A national Foster Care agency needed a solution to mitigate an unreliable cloud data sharing service Accounting Software and to improve the working environment for their expanding, remote, finance team.

The agency required a cost-effective, scalable, secure, and simple to use solution. Following several scoping calls, the following project goals were identified:

Networked Sage 50 Accounts (Multi-user), migrating away from Sage Cloud storage
Migrate from standalone to networked Sage 50 Payroll (Multi-user)
Personal Remote Desktops for up to 10 users, including Office Applications
Storage and Migration of Finance Documents and Data
Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Backup

Support for In-house IT Teams

After reviewing network and application specific requirements to ensure a secure and optimal performing solution, the recommendation was to migrate the finance function.

Migration occurred between the local installs of Sage Accounting and Sage Payroll software to a centralised solution hosted within Microsoft Azure running Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.

As staff desktop experience requirements differed, from a single-screen, single application to multi-screen setups, Remote Desktop Services provided this capability. Existing data from both MS365 SharePoint online and user local storage was migrated to file shares within the new RDS environment.
